MediaCity Post completed end-to-end post-production for the ITV drama The Blame, utilizing a remote workflow powered by Signiant for media movement and FilmLight Baselight for ACES-based HDR color management. The production design facilitated remote editorial and collaboration across multiple UK locations while meeting high-end international broadcast delivery standards.
The successful delivery of The Blame validates the scalability of hybrid remote post-production for high-end scripted drama. By utilizing Signiant for daily media synchronization and ACES for color management, MediaCity Post has established a template for regional facilities to compete for London-based principal photography without physical courier overhead. For the broader ecosystem, this signals a shift toward persistent, secure cloud-adjacent pipelines that can handle the massive data volumes of UHD HDR finishing while supporting distributed creative teams. Watch for further adoption of similar point-to-point hardware licenses in on-location production offices to reduce turnaround times between sets and editorial suites.
The completion of The Blame follows a significant strategic shift for the Salford-based facility. In June 2026, the company formerly known as dock10 rebranded as MediaCity Studios and MediaCity Post. According to MediaCityUK, the rebrand followed a full acquisition by Landsec in late 2024 and aims to integrate the 15-year-old facility more deeply into a unified creative campus. The facility has also served as the primary technical hub for the BBC’s 2026 FIFA World Cup coverage, which notably marked the first time the broadcaster’s studio operations for the tournament were managed entirely via remote workflows.
Industry data highlights that these remote capabilities are now a primary investment driver. Per the 2026 Haivision Broadcast Transformation Report, 41% of broadcast professionals identified enabling remote production as their top technical priority for the year, a record high. This shift is driven by a 49% increase in respondents citing budgetary constraints, forcing facilities to use tools like Signiant and Baselight to optimize labor costs across disparate geographic regions. Furthermore, Signiant recently announced Signiant Verify at NAB 2026, a new validation tool designed to automate technical specification checks before media enters downstream workflows, potentially further reducing the manual quality control hours reported by MediaCity Post on projects of this scale.
