Targa Newfoundland is partnering with a technology ecosystem led by Dejero, Eutelsat, and Intel to conduct a live, remote broadcast of its 25th-anniversary rally on YouTube. The production uses a blend of satellite capacity and edge compute to achieve live transmission from remote terrain, with a demonstration planned for IBC 2026.

Add as preferred sourceThe deployment proves the viability of high-bandwidth live streaming in extreme, non-line-of-sight environments by blending LEO/GEO satellite capacity with 5G and edge computing. For the streaming ecosystem, it signals a shift toward highly collaborative, vendor-agnostic 'production-in-the-field' stacks that bypass traditional broadcast trucks. This modular approach allows niche sporting events to achieve global distribution on platforms like YouTube without massive capital expenditures. Watch for latency metrics and signal stability reports following the IBC 2026 live demonstrations, which will serve as a benchmark for future remote sports production.
The partnership between Dejero and Eutelsat has evolved through several high-profile technical demonstrations over the past year. In March 2026, the companies debuted their 'Field to Air' workflow at NAB, which utilized Eutelsat’s OneWeb Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation to provide low-latency connectivity for real-time production. This integration was previously refined in June 2025 during the World Ocean Series, where Dejero’s Smart Blending Technology was used to manage all-remote, cable-free workflows in maritime environments, per reports from TV Technology. Simultaneously, the broader motorsports industry is pivoting toward direct-to-consumer streaming to capture fragmented global audiences. In January 2025, MAV TV launched the MAV TV Go subscription service to provide all-access live coverage of events like the Bathurst 12 Hour and the Nürburgring 24H, according to The Desk. These launches reflect a growing reliance on cloud-native production tools from vendors like Grabyo and Matrox Video, which facilitate remote encoding and distribution without the need for localized infrastructure. Technical standards for in-car and remote racing streams are also tightening. Industry specialists at Teradek remote production workflows noted in June 2026 that the combination of 5G and portable satellite terminals like Starlink Mini has significantly lowered the barrier for niche events. The Targa Newfoundland project represents one of the most complex applications of this 'network of networks' philosophy, attempting to maintain a persistent 4K-capable signal across 2,000 kilometers of isolated terrain where terrestrial cellular coverage is often non-existent.
