ITV Studios utilized Brompton Technology’s Tessera SX40 LED processors and a Fivefold Studios virtual production pipeline to film night sequences for the drama Believe Me. The virtual production workflow replaced traditional location shooting, enabling reduced filming time and complex creative shots within a controlled studio environment.
Virtual production is transitioning from high-budget sci-fi to standard episodic drama by proving it can drastically lower logistics costs and production timelines. By replacing unpredictable street shoots with a repeatable, iPad-controlled studio environment, ITV validated that complex IP-based lighting workflows can generate high-fidelity results at scale. This project highlights a shift where virtual production is valued more for its scheduling efficiency and creative risk reduction than for purely aesthetic spectacle. Watch for further adoption of similar LED volumes in mid-tier regional drama hubs as specialized facilities like Fivefold Studios scale their accessibility.
The success of Believe Me comes as ITVX reports its strongest streaming performance on record. According to ITV data from June 2026, the platform surpassed its previous May record with four days to spare, driven by a 19% year-on-year increase in total streams. The drama attracted 16 million streams within its first month, cementing it as the platform’s most-watched drama launch in over a year based on first-seven-day availability. This viewership surge reflects a broader trend of high-end drama anchoring ITVX’s growth, which saw total year-to-date streams rise 12% in 2026, per Broadband TV News.
Technically, the project utilized infrastructure at Fivefold Studios, which launched in late 2024 at Dragon Studios in Wales. The facility features a 160-square-meter LED wall and Europe's largest fixed green screen cove, specifically designed to support both independent films and major blockbusters. Per Broadcast (October 2024), the studio was established to provide a sustainable, technology-led hub for advanced media production in the UK. By utilizing the ROE Visual BP2V2 series—which has now surpassed 150,000 panels sold globally according to ROE Visual’s 20-year anniversary report—production teams are increasingly standardizing on cinema-grade hardware that offers high 7680Hz refresh rates to avoid scan-line issues during in-camera filming.
Brompton Technology continues to solidify its position as the processing backbone for such high-demand virtual production projects. Beyond ITV, the company’s Tessera SX40 processors have been deployed for major global events, including the 75th-anniversary tour of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in early 2026, according to company announcements in April 2026. The ability to maintain end-to-end Genlock and minimal latency is becoming a critical requirement for broadcasters looking to blend physical and digital environments without technical artifacts.
