DHD Audio debuts third-generation mixing console and AI noise reduction

The introduction of a license-free Control API for AES67 and Ravenna addresses a critical friction point in IP-based production by offering a secure alternative to complex industry standards like NMOS. By maintaining hardware compatibility across three generations of processing cores, the company provides a sustainable upgrade path for broadcasters facing tightening capital expenditure budgets. The integration of AI-driven noise reduction directly into the mixing workflow reflects a broader industry shift toward automated signal processing for live sports and remote news gathering. Watch for adoption rates of the new MIDI control features among video editors using Adobe Premiere to gauge how effectively DHD is bridging the gap between traditional radio hardware and modern video post-production suites.

DHD Audio enters a crowded field of broadcast audio console makers racing to deliver IP-native control at IBC 2026. Nokia and Google Cloud announced six Gemini-powered agentic AI agents for network operations at DTW Ignite in June 2026, demonstrating how AI-driven automation is spreading beyond telecom into adjacent production infrastructure. While that deployment targets network assurance rather than audio mixing, the underlying pattern of embedding specialized AI agents into operational workflows mirrors DHD's integration of ai-acoustics noise reduction directly into its console firmware. The broader trend of AI-assisted signal processing is accelerating across broadcast hardware vendors, with DHD's approach notable for embedding the capability at the hardware level rather than requiring external software.

The competitive landscape for broadcast mixing consoles has intensified around IP interoperability standards. Nokia announced partnerships with AWS and Databricks at DTW Ignite 2026 to build a unified data and control layer for autonomous networks, a move that signals how platform-level orchestration is becoming a differentiator across technology stacks. For DHD, the decision to offer a Control API that manages AES67 and Ravenna interfaces without requiring NMOS or Ember+ licenses positions the company against console makers who have tied their IP strategies to those standards. The license-free approach reduces procurement friction for smaller broadcasters and production facilities that lack the engineering resources to implement full NMOS discovery and registration workflows.

Technical benchmarks for AI-driven audio processing in broadcast remain limited, but adjacent deployments offer reference points. Ericsson launched its AI in RAN commercial software subscription on June 11, 2026, claiming up to 20% higher downlink throughput and up to 10% better spectral efficiency across more than 15 live deployments, illustrating how vendors in adjacent infrastructure markets are quantifying AI performance gains in production environments. DHD's claim of AI-driven noise reduction integrated into the DX2, RX2, SX2, and TX2 console lineup will face similar scrutiny from broadcast engineers who need measurable improvements in signal-to-noise ratios during live sports and remote news gathering. The company's backward compatibility across three generations of processing cores (XC3, XD3, XS3) provides a concrete upgrade path that competitors offering software-only AI solutions cannot match without hardware refresh cycles.
