The BBC’s partnership with Whisper arrives during a period of rising digital demand for The Hundred. Technically, the Cymru Broadcast Centre (CBC) in Cardiff serves as the operational spine for this contract. Originally built for Channel 4’s 2024 Paralympic coverage, the CBC is recognized as one of the UK’s first purpose-built accessible remote production facilities. The tournament itself is undergoing structural changes that influence broadcast requirements. In September 2025, the ECB confirmed the sale of minority stakes in all eight Hundred franchises to private investors, bringing in more than £500 million. Many of these investors, including Indian conglomerates like Reliance Industries and Sun Group, have experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and are pushing for more sophisticated digital engagement strategies.
