The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced that its 47th Annual Sports Emmy Awards and 47th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards will be streamed live on YouTube.
NATAS is moving two of its marquee awards shows onto YouTube, which immediately makes the Sports Emmy Awards and the News and Documentary Emmy Awards more accessible on a major streaming platform. The choice also underscores how live event distribution is increasingly happening on widely available digital outlets rather than only traditional broadcast channels. For the streaming ecosystem, this is another example of prestige programming using YouTube as distribution. Watch for the actual live streams of both ceremonies and whether NATAS provides any viewership or playback details after the events.
