YouTube is adding new podcast features, including an AI recommendation tool and an 'Auto speed' playback option. These updates are part of YouTube's ongoing efforts to attract and retain podcast audiences.
The immediate effect is a more tailored podcast listening experience inside YouTube, with AI recommendations and an automatic speed control built into playback. The move fits YouTube’s broader effort to compete for podcast audiences, showing it is adding product features rather than only relying on content scale. For StreamingMeme readers, the concrete signal to watch is whether YouTube expands these podcast tools beyond this initial rollout or adds more listener-facing features in the same product area.
