Sohonet has launched ClearView Pivot, a platform designed for real-time, remote 4K HDR review sessions with 12-bit color depth and 4:4:4 chroma sampling. This tool facilitates high-quality collaboration for color grading, VFX, and audio reviews, aiming to replicate a grading suite experience remotely. It emphasizes ultra-low latency and studio-grade security, operating over Sohonet's private Media Network.
ClearView Pivot standardizes theatrical-grade review environments for distributed teams, addressing the fidelity gaps typically found in internet-based compression. By replicating the grading suite experience remotely, it reduces the need for physical travel for final approvals in high-budget VFX and color workflows. As streaming giants push for higher production values on compressed timelines, this hardware-managed service ensures color and frame accuracy across global sites. Look for adoption metrics within major Hollywood studios that increasingly rely on hybrid post-production pipelines to manage escalating asset counts.
The launch comes as the post-production market undergoes a significant shift toward remote-first and hybrid workflows. Per market.us reports from 2024, the U.S. post-production sector reached a $9.06 billion valuation, with growth driven by streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon investing in effects-heavy content. This shift is mirrored by a decline in traditional large-scale physical facilities; industry sentiment shared on platforms like Reddit in July 2024 indicates that while standing up a top-tier room previously cost mid-six figures, modular remote solutions now allow freelancers and small shops to achieve near-parity for approximately $20,000.
Technological standards are evolving rapidly to support these decentralized teams. In June 2026, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) updated guidance for the ST 2110 suite, which focuses on sending professional-grade video and audio as synchronized streams over IP networks. While ST 2110 is the broadcast-grade standard for uncompressed media, Sohonet’s use of JPEG 2000 in Pivot targets the mezzanine path where visually lossless quality is required without the full uncompressed bandwidth cost. This aligns with broader industry goals to move from legacy Serial Digital Interface (SDI) cabling to more flexible, software-managed IP transport.
Sohonet’s competitive position is fortified by a rebounding production cycle. In a July 2025 assessment, Sohonet CEO Chuck Parker noted that production starts were trending 50% higher than the previous quarter, nearing historic 2022 peaks. With Adobe’s $1.27 billion acquisition of Frame.io in late 2021 setting the precedent for high-value collaboration tools, the entry of specialized hardware-software hybrids like Pivot addresses the 'last mile' of quality that general SaaS tools cannot reach.
