SmallHD has announced the new OLED 16 production monitor, a 16-inch 4K monitor designed for DIT and DP workflows. It features UHD resolution, 99% DCI-P3 color accuracy, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and integrated WiFi with the PageOS toolkit. The monitor is targeted at professional production environments and is available for pre-order at $5,999.
The introduction of SmallHD's OLED 16 provides DITs and DPs with a portable, reference-grade 4K monitoring solution for on-set color accuracy and critical exposure. This product reinforces the demand for high-fidelity production tools that can withstand demanding environments, directly impacting workflow efficiency in content creation. Observers should track adoption rates among high-end productions and competitive responses from other monitor manufacturers in the 16-inch OLED segment.
The SmallHD OLED 16's launch, per No Film School (June 2026), highlights the ongoing industry push for advanced on-set monitoring solutions that balance fidelity with ruggedness. This aligns with broader trends in production hardware, where manufacturers are increasingly integrating high-resolution displays, robust I/O, and intuitive software interfaces to meet the evolving needs of 4K and HDR workflows. For example, TV Technology (June 2026) reported that Matt Eidenbock, SmallHD Product Manager, emphasized the monitor’s ability to withstand production rigors while providing infinite contrast and precise color. Ray Mignone (June 2026) noted that the OLED 16’s comprehensive connectivity and customizable controls are key for DITs and DPs. This product category remains competitive, with other companies like Boland Communications and Ikegami also recently introducing new QD-OLED and OLED viewfinder monitors, respectively (TV Technology, June 2026). The focus across the sector is on delivering accurate, durable, and highly functional displays that streamline complex production pipelines. The OLED 16's price point of $5,999 positions it as a premium offering, reflecting the cost associated with its specifications and integrated features.
