Projective launches AI visual search and unified multisite management for Strawberry

The shift toward AI-powered visual indexing reflects a broader industry move to treat post-production as a strategic asset rather than a cost center. By automating the identification of untagged rushes, Projective is addressing the 'operational chaos' that typically erodes margins in high-volume production. As organizations increasingly operate in hybrid environments, the ability to manage distributed assets through a unified dashboard becomes a competitive requirement. Watch for whether these tools significantly reduce the use of high-cost primary storage through smarter deduplication and archiving, as Projective claims users can free up to 80% of capacity.

The push toward automated asset management aligns with broader industry trends identified by McKinsey in early 2026, which found that AI is already being used to accelerate footage clipping and video library filtering. This is exemplified by the September 2025 partnership between Moments Lab and Banijay Entertainment, which deployed AI video discovery to handle vast content libraries. Per McKinsey, these efficiencies are critical as post-production remains the second most resource-intensive step in the content supply chain, particularly for VFX-heavy productions.

Projective’s focus on structured collaboration follows CEO Derek Barrilleaux's 2025 advocacy for moving away from 'Wild West' workflows toward unified frameworks. According to NewscastStudio (March 2025), many teams still struggle with fragmented asset storage across shared drives and local desktops, leading to significant billable time lost to 'media offline' errors. By integrating AI-assisted search directly into the project framework, Projective is competing against point solutions by offering a foundation that addresses multiple bottlenecks simultaneously.

The launch of the Strawberry Skies Starter Bundle at €2,000 per month specifically targets the growing market of smaller, temporary productions that require enterprise-grade asset management without the overhead of physical hardware. This mirrors a 2024 report by Content Technology which highlighted the rising demand for turnkey, cloud-first production environments that can be deployed in hours. As more organizations move toward a 'think with AI' operating model, the integration of transcription and review tools into a single subscription reflects the ongoing consolidation of the automated rushes processing tech stack.
