GatesAir is introducing its new Maxiva XTK software-defined exciter at IBC2026, designed to support multiple global digital transmission standards including ATSC 3.0 and DVB-T2. The FPGA-based platform features real-time adaptive correction and is backwards compatible with previous-generation transmitter infrastructure via firmware updates.
The Maxiva XTK addresses the friction of multi-standard global operations by consolidating disparate transmission needs into a single software-defined unit. For broadcasters, this reduces capital expenditure by allowing signal upgrades via firmware rather than hardware replacement, a critical factor as Brazil and other markets transition to 4K-capable DTV+ and ATSC 3.0. In an era of spectrum reallocation and hybrid OTA-OTT delivery, the platform’s IP-native architecture simplifies the bridge between traditional broadcast and modern data-centric networks. Watch for adoption rates among Tier-1 broadcasters in the CALA region as Brazil’s commercial DTV+ rollout accelerates through late 2026.
The launch of the Maxiva XTK comes as the global digital terrestrial television (DTT) market is projected to reach $38.74 billion in 2026, according to reporting from EIN Presswire in February 2026. This growth is heavily driven by analog switch-offs in emerging markets and the commercial maturation of NextGen TV standards. In North America specifically, Syndicate Market Research projected in May 2026 that the ATSC 3.0 device market will expand at a CAGR of 15.5% through 2034, highlighting the sustained demand for hardware capable of delivering 4K over-the-air signals.
GatesAir has strategically aligned its hardware roadmap with major international transitions, particularly in South America. In June 2026, Brazil officially moved its DTV+ (TV 3.0) standard into commercial operation to coincide with the Soccer World Championship, per MPEGH.com. To support this, GatesAir opened a new facility in Pouso Alegre, Brazil, in June 2026 to provide local assembly and technical services for the DTV+ rollout. This regional expansion follows a period of corporate stabilization after the company was acquired by U.S.-based private equity firm Saothair Capital Partners in October 2025, as reported by Radio World.
Beyond traditional television, the company is leveraging its software-defined architecture to capture the growing Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) segment. In May 2026, GatesAir confirmed the successful completion of a three-year D2M field trial in India with public broadcaster Prasar Bharati, per its own corporate filings. By integrating multi-standard support and IP-based transport into the Maxiva XTK, GatesAir is positioning itself to serve both the established European DVB-T2 market and the high-growth datacasting opportunities emerging in the U.S. and Asia.
