EMAM, PlayBox Neo, and SNEWS have launched Nuvex, a unified broadcast workflow platform that integrates media asset management, newsroom production, and automated playout. The system is designed to support cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments for broadcasters and media organizations.
The launch of the Nuvex broadcast workflow platform addresses the operational friction caused by siloed production tools by consolidating MAM, newsroom, and playout into a single interface. For broadcasters, this integration reduces the technical overhead of managing disparate vendors while providing the flexibility to operate across hybrid cloud infrastructures. As the industry shifts toward more agile, distributed newsrooms, this partnership signals a move away from standalone hardware toward interoperable software ecosystems. Watch for adoption rates of the Ascent and Altitude tiers among mid-market broadcasters to gauge if unified platforms can successfully displace best-of-breed legacy stacks.
PlayBox Neo has built a substantial installed base that underpins the Nuvex launch. The company's products and solutions power over 20,000 playout and branding channels worldwide, spanning satellite, cable, OTT, and IP-based operations. At NAB Show 2025, PlayBox Neo showcased its next-generation media platform alongside upgrades to its Channel-in-a-Box product line, positioning the PlayBox Neo Suite as a centralized control layer for multimedia workflows across TV channels, satellite operators, and content creators. That existing ecosystem provides the playout and branding foundation on which Nuvex layers MAM and newsroom capabilities from EMAM and SNEWS.
The business case for Nuvex rests on reducing the operational overhead of managing multiple standalone systems. PlayBox Neo's Media Gateway, which enables routing and encoding entirely in software while supporting SRT, RIST, RTP, RTMP, UDP, NDI, and SDI protocols, already targets the integration gap between legacy infrastructure and modern IP workflows. By bundling that connectivity layer with EMAM's media asset management and SNEWS's newsroom production tools under the Nuvex brand, the partnership aims to capture mid-market broadcasters who cannot afford the engineering teams required to stitch together best-of-breed components from separate vendors.
On the technical side, PlayBox Neo has been adding SMPTE ST 2110 IP input and output support across its product range. At NAB Show 2024, the company demonstrated ST 2110 connectivity via Decklink IP/SDI HD cards alongside a new graphic mixer with 4K-UHD optimization for AirBox Neo-20, enabling IP-based content capture and playback over any distance. The Cloud2TV platform, which runs as a fully software-centric virtual channel playout system on Amazon Web Services, allows a single operator to manage cloud-based broadcasting regardless of physical location. These capabilities suggest Nuvex inherits a hybrid deployment architecture that can serve both traditional transmission routes and IP-first distribution without requiring broadcasters to commit to a single infrastructure model.
