Creamsource C3 LED Fresnel debuts with 3000W output and IP65 rating

The launch of the Creamsource C3 LED Fresnel signals a shift toward high-wattage LED fixtures capable of replacing traditional HMI sources in demanding studio environments. By integrating the power supply and utilizing a square lens design, the unit allows for dense arrays that minimize shadowing, a critical requirement for modern virtual production volumes and large-scale sets. This move places Creamsource in direct competition with established heavy-duty lighting manufacturers as the industry transitions away from power-hungry legacy hardware. Watch for the Q2 2027 delivery window to see if the fixture's 92% Rec. 2020 coverage becomes the new benchmark for color accuracy in high-output LED lighting.

Creamsource has built its reputation on the Vortex Series of LED fixtures, which are widely used in broadcast and film production. The company's expansion into the 3000W class with the C3 places it in direct competition with fixtures like the ARRI SkyPanel X and the Aputure Nova P600c, both of which target similar high-output studio and virtual production use cases. ARRI launched the SkyPanel X in late 2023 as a successor to the SkyPanel S series, offering IP65 weather resistance and a modular accessory system that has since become a standard on many virtual production stages. Meanwhile, Aputure introduced the Nova P600c as a 600W RGBWW panel with full-color mixing capabilities, targeting mid-range studio applications where color accuracy and output balance are priorities. The C3's 3000W output and 7-color engine position it above both in raw power and spectral range. The high-output LED Fresnel segment is seeing increased investment from multiple manufacturers as virtual production volumes and LED-wall stages proliferate globally. Creamsource CEO Arden Tse stated that the C3 was designed to replace HMI fixtures in environments where heat and power consumption are critical constraints, a claim that aligns with broader industry trends. A 2025 report from the Virtual Production Market Research group estimated that the global virtual production market would exceed $3.5 billion by 2027, driven by demand for LED volume stages in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. This growth is creating demand for lighting fixtures that can match or exceed HMI output while offering the controllability and color range of LED systems. The C3's IP65 rating also addresses the growing need for fixtures that can operate in outdoor and semi-outdoor production environments without additional weatherproofing. On the technical side, the C3's claimed 92% Rec. 2020 coverage is notable when compared to competing fixtures. ARRI's SkyPanel X achieves approximately 85% Rec. 2020 coverage according to independent testing by Cine Gear Expo evaluators, while Aputure's Nova P600c has been measured at around 80% Rec. 2020 in third-party evaluations published by Lighting & Sound International. If Creamsource's figures hold up under independent verification, the C3 would represent a meaningful step forward in color gamut coverage for high-output LED fixtures. The fixture's internal focus mechanism, which maintains a fixed lens position during spot-to-flood transitions, also addresses a common pain point in Fresnel design where external focus movement can shift the beam center and create inconsistent lighting across a set. This feature is particularly relevant for virtual production environments where precise beam control is essential for matching in-camera visual effects composites.
