Accedo has launched a specialized XR consultancy service to assist video service providers, broadcasters, and rights holders in developing and deploying immersive, spatial computing video experiences. The offering will leverage Accedo's 400-person Professional Services team and its Xtend solution framework to accelerate time-to-market and lower development costs.
This move signals a shift from experimental XR pilots to scalable commercial deployments for mid-tier and major broadcasters. By offering structural consultancy alongside a proven software framework, Accedo is addressing the high development costs and strategic ambiguity that have previously slowed the adoption of spatial computing. In a market where hardware like Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 is diversifying, providing a cross-platform deployment path is critical. Watch for the volume of live sports implementations following their April 2025 NAB showcase to gauge industry uptake.
Accedo’s move to formalize XR consultancy follows a period of aggressive expansion into the immersive and SaaS sectors. In March 2023, the company acquired eyecandylab, integrating its augmented reality platform, augmen.tv, into the core Accedo software stack. This acquisition provided the technical foundation for high-interactivity features, such as the 'Watch&Earn' loyalty solution, which are now central components of the Xtend framework used in this new consultancy offering.
More recently, Accedo has focused on consolidation and sustainability within the broader streaming infrastructure. Per TVBEurope, December 2025, Accedo and Magine Pro agreed to merge their respective SaaS businesses, Accedo One and Magine Pro, into a new jointly owned entity. This spin-off allowed Accedo to streamline its internal professional services while maintaining a deep partnership with the new SaaS player for cloud-based video delivery. Additionally, in June 2026, Accedo co-launched 'Ecoflow X,' an independent sustainability experimentation arm, targeting energy-efficient streaming workflows.
The XR strategy is heavily anchored in the sports vertical through the XR Sports Alliance (XRSA). According to TV Technology, June 2026, the alliance has grown to 33 members, including Manchester United, Red Bull, and Google. These recent entries reflect a maturing ecosystem where major rights holders are moving beyond standalone apps toward integrated spatial video formats. IDC data from March 2026 supports this trajectory, reporting that global XR device shipments grew 44.4% in 2025 as enterprise-ready hardware moved immersive media closer to mainstream adoption.
