Broadcast Solutions is delivering eight new hybrid 12G-SDI/IP Ultra HD outside broadcast units to TRT, Turkey's national public broadcaster. The fleet, comprising two large trailers and six mid-size trucks, supports TRT's content production for major events and its strategic transition from SDI to IP connectivity.
The deployment is an immediate technical necessity for TRT’s role as host broadcaster for the NATO summit in July 2026. Structurally, the fleet represents the bridge between legacy SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 IP standards, allowing a major national broadcaster to modernize without sacrificing current equipment compatibility. On a regional level, the scale of this investment cements Turkey’s position as a hub for sophisticated remote production in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The delivery of these eight units is the culmination of a contract signed in September 2024 between TRT and the German-based systems integrator Broadcast Solutions. Per reporting from ProAVL MEA in June 2026, the first trailer unit from this order entered active service just eight months after the contract signing and has already been utilized for live European football coverage. TRT CTO Alperen Aydin noted that the decision for a unified fleet refresh was driven by a need for greater redundancy and dynamic production capabilities leading into a heavy 2026 event calendar.
Beyond hardware, TRT is significantly expanding its footprint via own-branded digital services. According to C21Media reporting from April 2023 and updated as recently as late 2025, TRT has been aggressively scaling its international streaming presence to compete with global platforms like Netflix. The broadcaster aimed to launch a hybrid ad-supported and paid-tier VoD service to distribute its extensive library of Turkish dramas—historically a high-margin export—directly to consumers in Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe.
TRT’s role as the Host TV for the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara, scheduled for July 7-8, requires the management of an international media center providing satellite world feeds and broadcast-quality downloads for accredited global media. Per official NATO announcements from April 2026, all technical preparations at the Beştepe Presidential Compound must be finalized by July 5. The new UHD fleet is expected to serve as the core infrastructure for these live summit feeds, which will be accessible via world feed and the NATO multimedia portal.
