Roland Professional A/V has announced the V-1-4K, a compact 4K 60p video switcher designed for event production, corporate, and broadcast environments. The new hardware features five HDMI 2.0 inputs, built-in scalers, a USB-C 4K streaming output, and PTZ camera control capabilities. Concurrent with the hardware release, Roland also updated its Graphics Presenter software to Version 3.0, adding 4K support.
The V-1-4K aims to lower the hardware cost and complexity for 4K multi-source production by integrating switching, scaling, streaming output, and PTZ control into a single compact unit. As 4K sources and displays become standard in corporate and educational settings, such all-in-one devices reduce the need for specialized engineering staff and multiple components for smaller productions. The key feature to watch is the adoption of its Region of Interest (ROI) mode and its utility in creating virtual multi-cam setups from a single 4K camera in classrooms or panel discussions.
