Program Productions CEO appointment brings Live Nation veteran Alan Ostfield

The appointment of a high-profile executive like Alan Ostfield suggests Program Productions is moving beyond traditional labor management into a more aggressive technology-first strategy. By leveraging Ostfield’s deep ties to Live Nation and professional sports franchises, the company aims to deepen its integration with major broadcasters and event producers who require specialized crew management software. This move reflects a broader trend in the production ecosystem where service providers are increasingly relying on proprietary software like ProCrewz to maintain margins and operational efficiency. Watch for new feature updates or licensing deals involving the ProCrewz platform as Ostfield begins his tenure.

Program Productions operates in a niche but growing segment of live event production where crew scheduling and workforce management software intersects with traditional broadcast services. The company's ProCrewz platform provides staffing and scheduling tools used by production crews at sporting events, concerts, and other live broadcasts. Alan Ostfield's appointment as President and CEO on September 28, 2026 places a former Live Nation executive at the helm, signaling the company's intent to deepen relationships with large-scale event promoters and venue operators who manage thousands of freelance and contract production workers per event cycle.

The live production staffing market has seen increased consolidation and technology investment as broadcasters and event organizers seek to reduce scheduling friction and labor compliance risk. Program Productions has positioned ProCrewz as a purpose-built solution for the unique scheduling demands of live sports and entertainment production, where crew availability windows are tight and last-minute changes are routine. Scott West, who founded the company's technology direction, will remain as a Senior Advisor through the end of 2026 to ensure continuity in product development and client relationships during the leadership transition.

Ostfield's background at Live Nation and Palace Sports & Entertainment gives him direct experience managing production logistics at scale, including multi-venue tours and arena-based broadcasts. This operational pedigree aligns with Program Productions' stated goal of expanding ProCrewz adoption among larger event promoters and broadcast production companies that currently rely on manual or general-purpose workforce management tools. The appointment also positions the company to compete more directly with broader workforce platforms that have begun targeting entertainment and sports production as a vertical, though Program Productions retains a differentiated focus on the specific compliance, certification tracking, and availability-matching requirements unique to live production crews.
