Orei.com has introduced the ToVi DXA-HD-TX, an HDMI audio encoder designed to integrate two-channel HDMI audio sources into Dante networked audio systems. The device supports AES67 compatibility, configurable latency, and flexible power options including USB-C or PoE. It is suitable for applications such as recording studios, live events, concerts, and broadcast environments.
The DXA-HD-TX addresses a specific friction point in converged IP production by bridging consumer-facing HDMI sources with professional audio networks without requiring bulky AV receivers. By using the Dante Ultimo 2x2 platform, OREI provides a low-cost entry point for engineers to integrate media players or cameras into established Dante ecosystems. This launch aligns with the industry's broader shift toward AVoIP 2.0, where interoperability via AES67 and scalable IP-based routing is replacing traditional matrix switching. Watch for further adoption of similar ultra-compact decoders as broadcast environments move toward native ST 2110 and Dante-integrated workflows.
OREI's DXA-HD-TX arrives as Audinate's Dante platform continues to expand its hardware partner base. Audinate confirmed at InfoComm 2025 that Dante now supports more than 4,000 products from over 600 manufacturers, reinforcing the ecosystem's position as the dominant proprietary AVoIP protocol in professional audio. The DXA-HD-TX's AES67 compatibility is notable because it allows the device to interoperate with non-Dante systems, including those built on SMPTE ST 2110-30 or Ravenna, giving integrators a bridge between HDMI sources and standards-based IP audio infrastructure without requiring a full Dante license on the receiving end.
The product launch also reflects a broader trend of compact, single-purpose AVoIP endpoints replacing rack-mounted matrix switchers in smaller installations. At InfoComm 2025, Audinate introduced Dante Device Link, a technology enabling manufacturers to expand device configuration capabilities through cloud-based management, which could allow future OREI products to expose gain, EQ, and fault-detection parameters remotely via Dante Director. This signals that Audinate is actively building tooling for third-party hardware makers like OREI to deepen their integration with the Dante ecosystem beyond basic audio transport.
From a technical standpoint, the DXA-HD-TX's use of the Dante Ultimo 2x2 platform places it in the same category as other compact Dante endpoints such as the Dante AVIO Install Series adapters, which feature Euroblock connectors and the ClickGrid mounting system for fixed installations. The key differentiator for OREI's device is HDMI audio extraction, a capability not natively offered by Dante AVIO adapters, making the DXA-HD-TX a purpose-built solution for scenarios where audio is embedded in an HDMI signal, such as camera outputs, media players, or set-top boxes in broadcast and live-production workflows.
