Magewell Pro Convert IP decoders add Zixi support and 4K HDR
Magewell has updated its Pro Convert IP decoder series to include native Zixi stream support, 4K resolution, and HDR10/HLG compatibility. These enhancements allow broadcasters and streaming providers to bridge IP-based contribution workflows with traditional SDI and HDMI infrastructure.
Key Takeaways
- New Zixi integration allows users to pull streams directly into workflows via ZEN Master management
- Standalone HDMI 4K and AIO 4K models support 12G-SDI output and HDR10/HLG workflows
- Modular versions are now available for the Modator 2U chassis to support high-density rack deployments
- Integrated multiviewer functionality enables simultaneous decoding of up to four 1080p60 streams on a single QHD output
Why It Matters
The addition of Zixi support to the Magewell Pro Convert IP decoders addresses the growing need for reliable IP-to-SDI conversion as live sports and news move away from satellite contribution. By integrating 4K HDR capabilities and high-density rack options, Magewell is positioning its hardware as a critical bridge for facilities maintaining legacy baseband monitoring while adopting modern transport protocols. This move strengthens the Zixi ecosystem by providing a low-latency hardware endpoint for professional monitoring. Watch for whether competitors like AJA or Teradek respond with similar native protocol integrations to capture the mid-market broadcast monitoring segment.
