GlobalM has integrated its GMX software-defined network platform with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to enable automated deployment of media processing and routing resources. The partnership allows broadcasters to dynamically scale SRT and RIST gateways, transcoding, and distribution across OCI's global footprint.
This integration addresses the growing need for elastic infrastructure in live sports and news, where peak demand is high but temporary. By moving from static hardware to software-defined networking on OCI, broadcasters can reduce capital expenditure while maintaining the low-latency requirements of SRT and RIST protocols. This move signals a broader shift toward cloud-native master control rooms that can be spun up or down in minutes rather than days. Watch for whether this partnership accelerates the migration of tier-one live events away from traditional satellite and fiber toward managed public cloud environments.
GlobalM's GMX platform has been expanding its footprint across live media workflows, positioning itself as a software-defined networking layer for broadcasters and content distributors. The company's approach of abstracting SRT and RIST gateway management into a cloud-orchestrated model aligns with broader industry momentum toward infrastructure-as-code for media supply chains. In early 2026, GlobalM announced a partnership with AWS to extend GMX deployment across Amazon Web Services regions, giving broadcasters multi-cloud flexibility for live event routing and transcoding workloads. That multi-cloud strategy now includes Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, broadening the addressable market for GMX among operators already committed to OCI's compute and networking services.
Oracle has been investing in media and entertainment workloads as part of its broader cloud infrastructure push. In May 2026, Oracle reported that its OCI revenue grew 52% year-over-year in its most recent fiscal quarter, driven in part by demand from AI and high-performance computing customers, though the company has also courted media companies with dedicated regions and low-latency networking options. For GlobalM, the Oracle partnership provides access to OCI's global network of 47 regions, which Oracle expanded to include new sites in Saudi Arabia and Mexico during 2025, giving broadcasters additional geographic options for live event distribution without building private points of presence.
The technical architecture behind GMX reflects a growing trend of treating broadcast contribution and distribution as programmable network functions rather than fixed hardware paths. SRT and RIST protocols have become the de facto standards for low-latency video transport over the public internet, and the SRT Alliance reported in 2025 that over 1,200 companies had adopted the protocol, up from roughly 700 in 2023. GlobalM's automation layer sits above these protocols, reducing the manual configuration burden that has historically slowed live event setup. Competitors in this space include Haivision, which offers its own SRT-based gateway products, and MediaKind, which provides cloud-native media processing pipelines. The differentiation for GlobalM lies in its orchestration layer, which dynamically provisions and tears down resources based on real-time demand, a capability that becomes more valuable as live sports calendars grow denser and broadcasters manage more simultaneous feeds. Encompass and Oracle expand cloud-native broadcast partnership further highlights the growing ecosystem of media services leveraging OCI for live production.
