Audinate Dante ST 2110 interoperability bridges broadcast and IP production workflows

The integration of Dante and ST 2110 standards addresses the technical friction of managing disparate audio and video protocols on a single network. By centralizing PTP clocking and PTZ camera control within a unified software layer, production teams can reduce the hardware overhead typically required for high-end broadcast transitions. This move signals a shift toward software-defined production where AI-assisted framing and tracking become standard features rather than specialized add-ons. As broadcasters face pressure to scale output with smaller crews, the consolidation of audio and control data onto one network becomes a operational necessity. Watch for further firmware integrations from other major camera manufacturers following the Everet Imaging partnership.

The push to unify Dante audio networking with SMPTE ST 2110 broadcast standards reflects a broader industry effort to collapse separate audio and video transport layers into a single IP fabric. At IBC 2026, Audinate is positioning Dante as the audio bridge for facilities that have already committed to ST 2110 for video, reducing the need for dedicated audio infrastructure. The company's Iris platform, which handles networked PTZ camera control, extends that unification beyond audio into device management. Nokia and Ericsson have been racing to bring agentic AI into network operations, and while their focus is telecom rather than broadcast, the underlying pattern of consolidating control planes onto unified data fabrics mirrors what Audinate is doing for production environments. The Dante ecosystem now spans more than 3,000 licensed products from hundreds of manufacturers, making interoperability with ST 2110 a critical step for any facility planning an all-IP transition. On the business side, Audinate's licensing model and its partnership with Everet Imaging signal a strategy to embed Dante deeper into the camera and production hardware supply chain. Nokia has been building its Autonomous Network Fabric with AWS and Databricks to create a unified control layer for telco operations, and the parallel in broadcast is clear: vendors that control the orchestration layer gain leverage over the entire ecosystem. Audinate's Dante Controller update, which adds PTP configuration for ST 2110 synchronization, effectively makes Dante the timing authority for mixed audio-video networks. This matters commercially because PTP grandmaster clocks and timing infrastructure represent a significant capital expense for broadcasters, and any software that simplifies that layer reduces total cost of ownership. Technical benchmarks from the field support the convergence thesis. Nokia and Ericsson have taken divergent approaches to AI-RAN, with Nokia betting on Nvidia GPU acceleration and Ericsson on custom silicon, and the broadcast equivalent of that debate is whether to run audio and video on a shared network fabric or maintain separate transport paths. Audinate's demonstration at IBC 2026 shows that Dante can coexist with ST 2110-30 audio streams on the same network without introducing jitter or synchronization failures, provided PTP is properly configured. Light Reading reported that Ericsson and Nokia are diverging sharply on AI-RAN architecture, with Ericsson favoring silicon independence and Nokia committing to Nvidia's CUDA platform. In the broadcast world, Audinate's approach of keeping Dante software-portable across hardware vendors, rather than locking into a single chipmaker, follows the same strategic logic of avoiding platform dependency while still delivering measurable performance gains. As the industry moves toward universal IP-based production, these interoperability standards will define the next generation of studio infrastructure.
