V-Nova develops hierarchical, compute-aware data formats that transform visual information from static files into structured, adaptive data for AI, media, and immersive experiences. Its technologies, including MPEG-5 LCEVC and SMPTE VC-6, improve video, imaging, and point-cloud compression and have been granted international standard status by MPEG, ISO, and SMPTE. The company holds a portfolio of over 1,500 international patents and has partnered with major organizations such as Sky, Nvidia, and Amazon Web Services. V-Nova's PresenZ format offers photorealistic six degrees of freedom (6DoF) volumetric experiences, setting it apart in the visual data compression market.
V-Nova SVP Simone Ferrara discusses the challenges of applying traditional technical standardization to AI-driven systems. The article argues that the probabilistic nature of AI necessitates a shift toward verifiable frameworks and policy-led interoperability rather than rigid specifications.
NVIDIA and V-Nova have announced a collaborative architecture that integrates CloudXR, the Graphics Delivery Network, and PresenZ technology to stream cinematic 6DoF content to standalone VR headsets. This solution aims to eliminate the need for local high-end gaming hardware by leveraging cloud-based rendering and global delivery infrastructure.
A technology that lets viewers move freely within cinematographic virtual scenes, delivering true six degrees of freedom and cinematic quality for next-generation VR and mixed-reality experiences.

V-Nova is showcasing its MPEG-5 LCEVC technology at SET EXPO 2026, highlighting its role in Brazil's commercial TV 3.0 rollout. The deployment enables 4K HDR broadcast delivery at under 10 Mbps through an ecosystem of partners including Harmonic, Ateme, and Realtek.
V-Nova SVP Fabio Murra discusses how licensing costs and commercial constraints are increasingly influencing UHD and HDR deployment strategies for streaming operators. He proposes MPEG-5 LCEVC as a solution to optimize costs and quality without requiring a wholesale codec migration.
V-Nova has launched the ImmersiX application for Apple Vision Pro, which uses NVIDIA CloudXR and the Graphics Delivery Network (GDN) to stream pre-rendered, volumetric cinema (6DoF) to standalone headsets. The platform allows for high-fidelity content delivery by offloading heavy rendering tasks to cloud-based GPU infrastructure.
V-Nova discusses how rising delivery costs for 4K HDR live sports streaming present an economic challenge for modern operators. The company highlights MPEG-5 LCEVC as a practical enhancement layer to existing video pipelines that can reduce egress costs, referencing its adoption in Brazil's TV 3.0 standard alongside partners like ATEME and Harmonic.
V-Nova is advocating for hierarchical, compute-aware data formats to significantly improve the efficiency of Vision AI processing. These formats, designed to be AI-native, aim to reduce compute power, energy consumption, and latency by allowing AI to access visual data with purpose, rather than processing everything.
Globo has launched DTV+ services in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Brasília, deploying VVC and MPEG-5 LCEVC for next-generation television in Brazil. This marks the commercial implementation of these advanced compression technologies in one of the world's largest TV markets, providing a real-world benchmark for broadcasters and regulators globally. The new services deliver 4Kp60 HDR television efficiently over existing terrestrial broadcast infrastructure.
V-Nova details how MPEG-5 LCEVC enables scalable, two-layer video encoding directly on sender devices for video messaging, improving quality without requiring cloud transcoding. This approach allows services to deliver a universal baseline while offering higher quality to recipients with LCEVC-enabled apps. The technology can be deployed via app updates on iOS and Android, working with existing AVC/HEVC hardware encoders.
V-Nova Studios will showcase its immersive technologies, including PresenZ (a 6DoF format) and the ImmersiX distribution platform, at Annecy 2026. The company is particularly focused on expanding cinematic 6DoF content delivery to Apple Vision Pro and other XR devices through pixel streaming, aiming to dramatically increase market reach. This initiative involves integrating PresenZ into existing animation and VFX pipelines and advancing ImmersiX for broader device compatibility.
