Uplynk and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure have announced a partnership to provide a unified hybrid cloud architecture for media companies. The integration allows broadcasters to manage live and VOD workflows via a single control plane, supported by Uplynk's StreamOps managed services.
This integration addresses the growing operational strain on broadcasters forced to maintain legacy linear systems alongside modern software-driven streaming stacks. By allowing workloads to run on-prem or in the cloud via a single orchestration layer, Uplynk and Oracle provide a migration path that avoids the high risk of cloud-native rebuilds. For the broader ecosystem, this signals a shift toward managed service models that prioritize operational stability over DIY infrastructure assembly. Watch for whether this hybrid approach accelerates FAST channel expansion among regional networks that previously lacked the technical overhead to manage complex multi-partner digital workflows.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has been expanding its media and entertainment footprint through targeted partnerships and product launches aimed at broadcasters and streaming platforms. In early 2026, Oracle announced expanded media workflows on OCI including AI-powered content metadata tagging and automated compliance checks designed to reduce manual processing for live and on-demand content pipelines. The company has positioned OCI as a cost-competitive alternative to AWS and Azure for media workloads, particularly for organizations running latency-sensitive live encoding and packaging tasks that benefit from OCI's low-egress pricing model. The competitive landscape for hybrid cloud streaming infrastructure remains intense. AWS Elemental continues to dominate cloud-native media processing, and AWS announced in April 2026 that Elemental MediaConvert now supports AV1 encoding with up to 40% bitrate savings compared to H.264 for on-demand workflows. Meanwhile, Microsoft Azure Media Services has been winding down its standalone offering, pushing customers toward partner ecosystems and third-party managed services, which creates an opening for vendors like Uplynk that can provide turnkey orchestration across multiple cloud providers. The FCC's June 2025 data showing interconnected business VoIP at approximately 44 million subscriptions, representing about 83.6% of U.S. business fixed voice, underscores the broader trend of enterprises consolidating infrastructure onto fewer managed platforms rather than maintaining fragmented vendor stacks. On the technical side, Uplynk's StreamOps managed service model reflects a broader industry shift toward operational abstraction layers that sit above raw cloud compute. Omilia raised $67 million in Series B funding in August 2026 to expand its agentic AI platform for enterprise contact centers, demonstrating that investors are backing managed AI platforms that reduce operational complexity for large enterprises, a parallel trend to what Uplynk is pursuing in media workflows. Enterprise conversational AI is projected to grow from $17.05 billion in 2025 to $49.8 billion by 2031, and the same consolidation logic applies to media infrastructure: broadcasters increasingly prefer single-pane-of-glass orchestration over assembling point solutions from multiple vendors. Uplynk's integration with OCI gives it a differentiated position against pure-play cloud encoding services by combining managed operations with hybrid deployment flexibility.
