Sky has launched 'Your Multiview,' a new feature for Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q platforms that enables users to watch up to four live sports events simultaneously. The update also introduces a new Sports Hub for real-time stats and highlights, supporting the broadcaster's coverage of over 1,500 matches this season.
The introduction of simultaneous streaming for four events addresses the increasing volume of live rights, with Sky broadcasting over 1,500 matches this season across the Premier League, EFL, and WSL. By integrating real-time stats and scrollable clips into the main interface, Sky is attempting to reduce second-screen churn where viewers look to mobile devices for data. This move signals a shift toward the television acting as a centralized data hub rather than just a video display. Watch for whether this feature drives higher retention for the £22 per month sports add-on as fans manage overlapping schedules for Formula 1 and domestic football.
Sky has been building toward multi-event viewing for several seasons. The broadcaster previously used Multiview successfully during its WSL coverage, where the format allowed fans to follow multiple women's football matches simultaneously before the feature was expanded to Premier League coverage. The Q&A published by Sky Sports confirms that the main match window automatically follows the most prominent live action across all four feeds, and that the Multiview stream becomes available five minutes before kick-off, giving viewers time to settle into the layout before matches begin.
Carli Kerr, Managing Director of Sky TV & NOW since her career at Sky began in April 2012, has overseen the product strategy that positions Sky's proprietary hardware as the exclusive access point for these features. The Multiview capability is restricted to Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q platforms, meaning it is not available on third-party devices or competing services. This exclusivity reinforces Sky's broader strategy of tying premium sports experiences to its own hardware ecosystem, a approach that differentiates the platform from rights-holding competitors who distribute through multiple device partners.
The competitive context for multi-screen sports viewing is intensifying. Sky's Your Multiview arrives as broadcasters across Europe experiment with simultaneous event presentation to combat second-screen drift. The feature supports a wide range of sports including football, F1, cricket, tennis, golf, NFL, and rugby, which Sky positions as eliminating the need for viewers to use smartphones or tablets to divide attention across multiple screens. The free update model, available at no additional cost to existing Sky Sports subscribers, suggests Sky is using the feature as a retention tool rather than a new revenue stream, betting that richer in-home viewing experiences will reduce churn on its sports packages.
