Sagemcom has launched a new generation of its Video Soundbox, a 4K set-top box featuring the Broadcom BCM74116 SoC and integrated karaoke functionality. DNA in Finland is the first operator to deploy the device as part of its DNA Viihde service.
This deployment signals a shift for telco operators from providing simple gateways to offering high-margin, all-in-one entertainment hubs. By integrating premium audio from Bang & Olufsen and interactive services like Singa karaoke, DNA is attempting to reduce churn and increase average revenue per user through hardware-software bundles. Within the broader ecosystem, this move challenges standalone soundbar and smart speaker manufacturers by consolidating the living room stack into a single managed device. Watch for Telenor Group to potentially expand this hardware rollout to other Nordic markets if DNA’s initial adoption rates for the karaoke add-on kit meet internal targets.
The Community Fibre PLEIO launch similarly highlights how operators are increasingly bundling value-added services directly into the set-top box experience to differentiate their broadband offerings.
