Ross has released an overview of its TouchDrive TD3S panel, a production switcher designed for technical directors in fast-paced live production environments. The panel features 25 crosspoint buttons, three full ME control rows with touch displays, and a built-in DashBoard computer for enhanced configuration and control.
This new hardware offers live production teams a compact, dedicated control surface, potentially simplifying complex switching operations. Integrating DashBoard directly into the panel streamlines setup and interaction with both Ross and third-party equipment, addressing a common pain point for technical directors managing diverse ecosystems. Companies investing in live production infrastructure should observe how this integration affects workflow efficiency and the overall cost of ownership compared to modular systems.
Ross Video continues to expand its TouchDrive line of control panels, showcasing new models like the TDx3 and TDx4 at NAB Show 2024, building on the TD3 and TD4 versions unveiled at IBC (Digital Studio India, 2024). These larger panels offer increased control options, with the TDx series featuring an additional row of selector buttons per control stripe for enhanced Key/Aux Bus Source assignment and Memory/Custom Control recall (Ross Video Community, April 2024). Ross emphasized its broader end-to-end production ecosystem at NAB Show 2026, highlighting the TouchDrive 5 as a new control surface with expanded access and customization ضمن a suite of innovations ranging from routing to graphics and camera control (TV Technology, April 2026). The company noted that all TD series panels now run on a Ryzen 6 Core CPU with over four times the RAM of previous models, improving response times (Digital Studio India, 2024). This ongoing development points to Ross's strategy of offering a range of control surfaces to suit various production scales and complexities, while integrating them into a unified, high-performance ecosystem.
