The Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre in Australia has deployed Riedel's MediorNet for 12G-SDI signal distribution and an Artist ecosystem for intercom communications. The infrastructure supports flexible broadcast workflows, including fiber-based integration with outside broadcast trucks.
This installation demonstrates the growing requirement for convention centers to function as high-end broadcast hubs capable of supporting 12G-SDI workflows. By utilizing a decentralized fiber network, the venue eliminates the traditional constraints of fixed cabling, allowing production teams to scale bandwidth dynamically for different event types. For the broader streaming and broadcast ecosystem, this reflects a shift toward 'broadcast-ready' venues that can ingest and distribute high-resolution signals to OB trucks or remote production centers with minimal setup time. Watch for whether other regional event centers adopt similar self-healing networked SDI systems to compete for lucrative national touring and televised exhibition contracts.
The Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre has deployed a Riedel MediorNet infrastructure to manage 12G-SDI signal distribution. This fiber-based system integrates video transport with an Artist intercom ecosystem, allowing the venue to function as a high-end broadcast hub capable of supporting national events and outside broadcast truck operations efficiently.
The facility uses Riedel MediorNet for 12G-SDI signal distribution and an Artist intercom ecosystem for communications.
A dedicated 24-core single-mode fiber link connects the internal network to satellite truck positions, enabling seamless outside broadcast integration.
The communications stack includes 36 Bolero wireless beltpacks and 16 antennas to provide full coverage across both indoor and outdoor venue spaces.
It demonstrates a shift toward 'broadcast-ready' venues that use decentralized fiber networks to scale bandwidth dynamically and support high-resolution 12G-SDI workflows.
