MyGaru telecom identity platform unites Ukrainian rivals to boost addressable reach

This collaboration demonstrates a viable path for telcos to reclaim ad revenue lost to walled gardens by pooling network signals to achieve critical market mass. For the streaming ecosystem, this provides a blueprint for maintaining addressability in cookieless environments like CTV and mobile apps where traditional identifiers are failing. The success in Ukraine suggests that neutral third-party intermediaries can overcome the historical trust issues that have derailed previous carrier-led ad tech initiatives. Watch for myGaru to attempt similar multi-operator integrations in Western markets where unified measurement strategies and fragmented reach currently limit telco-driven advertising.

The myGaru telecom identity platform operates within a broader wave of carrier-led identity initiatives that have gained momentum across Europe and beyond. In June 2026, Ericsson launched its AI in RAN commercial software subscription claiming up to 20% higher downlink throughput across more than 15 live deployments, signaling that telcos are increasingly willing to open network data layers for commercial purposes beyond connectivity. This shift toward treating network infrastructure as a programmable platform creates the technical and commercial conditions under which identity-sharing arrangements like myGaru become feasible. The startup's approach of using pseudonymized, session-expiring tokens mirrors the privacy-by-design principles that have become mandatory under EU regulation, and its success in uniting Kyivstar, Vodafone Ukraine, and lifecell suggests that even in markets with intense competitive rivalry, the economic incentive to pool addressable reach can overcome historical distrust. On the regulatory and business side, the myGaru model faces a landscape shaped by both GDPR enforcement and the ongoing collapse of third-party cookies. The IAB Ukraine ecosystem has been working to establish local standards for digital measurement and identity that comply with European data protection rules while still enabling programmatic advertising. The startup's architecture, which never exposes personally identifiable information to advertisers, positions it as a compliance-first alternative to the European regulators enforce digital advertising unlinkability rules that regulators have increasingly targeted. Meanwhile, Nokia and Google Cloud announced at DTW IGNITE 2026 a partnership deploying six specialized AI agents for network operations, with Nokia claiming operators could reduce network problem-solving times by 50% to 80%. While that initiative targets operational efficiency rather than advertising, it demonstrates the same underlying principle myGaru exploits: that telco network data, when properly abstracted and governed, can power commercial applications beyond traditional connectivity. From a technical standpoint, the myGaru platform's session-based token approach addresses a specific gap in the identity ecosystem. Nokia's Autonomous Network Fabric, demonstrated with AWS and Databricks at DTW 2026, achieved automation rates higher than 90% and service delivery times of four hours or less by unifying fragmented telco data silos into a single analytics layer. That same data-unification challenge is what myGaru solves at the advertising layer, consolidating identity signals from multiple operators into a single addressable pool. The technical parallel is instructive: just as Nokia's fabric separates core processing logic from platform connectors to reduce vendor lock-in, myGaru's token architecture separates identity resolution from any single operator's infrastructure, creating a neutral layer that no individual carrier controls. This architectural neutrality appears to be the key factor that enabled competing operators in Ukraine to participate, a lesson that could prove transferable to larger Western European markets where similar fragmentation limits addressable reach. As these identity layers evolve, telecom carrier AI identity layer solutions are increasingly viewed as the standard for secure, automated cross-network interactions.
