FOR-A has integrated control for Canon PTZ cameras directly into its software-defined MixBoard production switcher. This integration allows operators to manage camera presets, movement, and tallies within a single interface, reducing the need for additional hardware in live production environments.
This integration signals a shift toward consolidated, software-defined workflows where the production switcher acts as a central command hub for diverse hardware. By removing the requirement for dedicated PTZ controllers, FOR-A and Canon are addressing the demand for leaner, more cost-effective setups in space-constrained environments like small studios. This move aligns with broader industry trends toward interoperability between best-of-breed hardware and flexible software platforms. As production environments continue to decentralize, watch for whether other switcher manufacturers adopt similar direct-control protocols for third-party imaging hardware to maintain competitive parity in the mid-market segment.
FOR-A has integrated Canon PTZ camera control into its software-defined MixBoard production switcher. This update allows operators to manage real-time camera movement, presets, and tallies directly from the switcher interface. By eliminating the need for dedicated hardware controllers, this integration enables leaner, more cost-effective production workflows for small studios.
The integration allows MixBoard users to control Canon PTZ cameras, including 4K models, directly from the switcher interface. Operators can manage real-time pan, tilt, and zoom adjustments, recall presets, and handle tally management without needing separate hardware controllers.
It reduces the physical hardware footprint and energy consumption by consolidating camera control into the software-defined MixBoard switcher. This creates a more cost-effective and space-efficient setup for production environments.
The collaboration moved from initial testing at the MPTS exhibition to a shipping product in under four months.
