DJI FlightHub 2 update triples concurrent livestreaming capacity for enterprise

The tripling of livestream capacity directly addresses the bottleneck of managing high-density drone fleets in sensitive environments like utilities and public safety. By moving to multi-core processing, DJI ensures that video infrastructure can scale alongside hardware deployments without the latency or black-screen failures that previously hampered real-time monitoring. This shift toward a more robust on-premises API ecosystem signals a move to compete with specialized industrial software by offering deeper integration into existing GIS and asset management stacks. Watch for whether these performance gains lead to broader adoption of automated DJI Dock installations in sectors with strict data sovereignty requirements.

DJI's enterprise drone ecosystem continues to expand beyond consumer markets, with FlightHub 2 serving as the central command layer for industrial operators managing large-scale autonomous missions. In early 2025, DJI launched the Matrice 4 series with enhanced AI obstacle avoidance and improved thermal imaging capabilities, targeting utility inspection, public safety, and surveying workflows that rely on the same FlightHub 2 infrastructure for fleet coordination. The Matrice 4 launch underscored DJI's strategy of pairing hardware upgrades with platform-level software improvements to retain enterprise customers who need tightly integrated hardware and management stacks. Competitors in the enterprise drone management space, including Skydio and Autel Robotics, have pursued similar fleet orchestration approaches, though DJI maintains the largest installed base of commercial drones globally.

On the regulatory and business front, DJI faces ongoing scrutiny in the United States that could affect enterprise adoption timelines. In December 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Countering CCP Drones Act, which would require a national security review of DJI products before they can operate on American communications infrastructure. The bill, which still requires Senate action, has prompted some public safety agencies and utility operators to evaluate alternative platforms or to accelerate procurement of existing DJI hardware before potential restrictions take effect. Meanwhile, DJI announced in March 2025 that it had surpassed 100,000 enterprise drone deployments worldwide, with public safety and energy sectors representing the fastest-growing segments. That milestone reinforces why platform scalability, including livestream capacity, matters for DJI's retention of large fleet operators.

From a technical standpoint, the multi-core processing approach in FlightHub 2 On-Premises v1.7 reflects broader industry trends in edge video processing for autonomous systems. Skydio's Skydio Cloud platform introduced multi-stream relay capabilities in late 2024, allowing operators to view simultaneous feeds from multiple drones without dedicated ground stations, a capability that directly competes with DJI's on-premises livestream scaling. Autel Robotics has also expanded its Autel Enterprise platform with support for up to 10 concurrent video streams through its Dragonfish series, though that capacity remains well below DJI's newly tripled limits. The API marketplace market growth expansion to over 300 interfaces positions FlightHub 2 to integrate with third-party GIS tools like Esri ArcGIS and asset management systems, a pattern mirrored by Skydio's partnership with Esri announced in February 2025 to embed drone imagery directly into geographic information workflows. These integrations are increasingly critical for enterprise buyers who need drone video to flow into existing operational dashboards rather than siloed flight management interfaces.
