AV and broadcast convergence summit explores IP and cloud workflow adoption

The blurring lines between professional AV and traditional broadcasting signal a shift toward democratized high-end production tools. As corporate entities demand studio-grade quality for internal communications, the reliance on specialist engineers is being challenged by software-driven automation and simplified IP setups like NDI and Dante. This transition forces traditional broadcast vendors to adapt their go-to-market strategies for IT-centric buyers who prioritize ease of deployment over deep technical configuration. Within the broader streaming ecosystem, this movement accelerates the migration to cloud-based workflows and shared network infrastructure. Watch for whether broadcast vendors launch simplified 'prosumer-plus' hardware lines to capture the growing corporate facilities market.

NDI has become the de facto IP video transport protocol for corporate and live event environments that need broadcast-quality workflows without dedicated SDI infrastructure. NewTek's NDI 6 specification, released in late 2024, introduced NDI Bridge for remote production and NDI Discovery Server for multi-site deployments, expanding the protocol's reach beyond single-room setups into distributed enterprise environments. The AV and Broadcast Summit will examine how these IP-based tools are lowering the barrier for corporate facilities to produce studio-grade content without traditional broadcast engineering teams. The broader market dynamics around AV-over-IP convergence are accelerating investment from both traditional broadcast vendors and enterprise IT players. Meta Platforms and BlackRock plan to build a 1-gigawatt data center complex in Texas costing approximately $14 billion, with the facility going online in 2028 and Meta as the initial sole tenant, reflecting the massive infrastructure buildout underpinning cloud-based media workflows. This scale of investment in compute and networking infrastructure directly supports the shift toward software-defined production that the summit will explore, as cloud-rendered graphics and remote production workflows demand ever-greater bandwidth and processing capacity. On the technical side, SMPTE ST 2110 remains the gold standard for professional broadcast IP transport, but its complexity has limited adoption outside traditional broadcast facilities. NDI and Dante have filled the gap in corporate and live event markets by offering simpler deployment models that IT teams can manage without deep broadcast engineering expertise. Deepgram's integration with Amazon SageMaker demonstrates how AI-powered voice processing can run as real-time endpoints inside customer VPCs with sub-300 ms latency, illustrating the broader trend of cloud-native, software-defined media processing that the summit will address. The convergence of IP audio protocols like Dante with AI-driven automation tools points toward a future where corporate AV teams can achieve broadcast-quality output with minimal specialist intervention, a central theme of the September 2nd event.
