Accedo and Magine Pro have agreed to carve out and merge their respective SaaS businesses, Accedo One and Magine Pro, into a new jointly owned OTT streaming platform company. Expected to finalize in December 2025, the new entity will be led by CEO Markus Hejdenberg and CCO Matthew Wilkinson.
The merger signals a consolidation phase in the OTT infrastructure market as vendors shift from bespoke development to standardized SaaS models to maintain profitability. By pooling resources, the new entity gains the scale required to compete for Tier-1 broadcast and pay-TV clients who are increasingly outsourcing core infrastructure to reduce high operating costs. For the broader ecosystem, this suggests a narrowing field of independent tech stacks in favor of robust, integrated platforms. Watch for the December 2025 closing date and subsequent shifts in the vendor landscape as regional broadcasters assess the new entity's consolidated roadmap.
The Accedo-Magine Pro joint venture enters a consolidating OTT platform market where scale has become a prerequisite for competing on enterprise deals. decodeTV noted that the merger appears designed to create a bigger-scale player in the crowded OTT video SaaS space, competing with Brightcove and Kaltura, while the remaining Accedo entity is expected to focus on managed services and higher-value engagements. This positioning reflects a broader pattern in the streaming infrastructure vendor market, where pure SaaS offerings are being separated from professional services to sharpen margins and simplify go-to-market strategies.
The deal structure itself carries implications for how the new entity will operate commercially. IBC reported that the joint venture will operate separately from the Accedo Group but use Accedo's global network, resources, and reach as a key business partner and reseller, a model that preserves Accedo's brand equity and distribution relationships while giving the SaaS business independent operational focus. Kamal Bherwani, appointed chairman, described the combination as creating a company with the scale and ambition to redefine SaaS solutions for OTT streaming worldwide.
Accedo's existing client roster provides the new entity with immediate Tier-1 reference accounts. Advanced Television reported that Accedo has worked with broadcasters and platforms including Paramount, Deutsche Telekom, ITV, Hallmark, BBC, Cogeco, and Tata Play, giving the merged company a foothold across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific from day one. Magine Pro brings complementary strengths in end-to-end managed OTT operations, including video CMS, localization tooling, and monetization capabilities for VOD, live, FAST, and linear content types.
