Stockholm-based video experience provider Accedo has announced the acquisition of Hibox, a Finnish company specializing in advanced TV solutions for telecom, media, hospitality, and healthcare. The transaction, scheduled to close in March 2021, integrates Hibox's Aura and Smartroom products into Accedo's global TV software portfolio to expand its multiscreen capabilities.
The acquisition significantly broadens Accedo's footprint beyond traditional consumer OTT, moving aggressively into managed B2B environments like hotels and clinics. By integrating Hibox’s dedicated vertical solutions, Accedo can target the hospitality TV market, which requires specific hardware-software integration for in-room experiences. This move mirrors a wider ecosystem trend where video experience providers are seeking high-margin, specialized enterprise contracts to diversify revenue away from the volatile consumer streaming market. Watch for Accedo to leverage Hibox's 'Smartroom' tech to compete for large-scale hospital and cruise ship contracts where localized content management is critical.
Following the acquisition of Hibox, Accedo has continued to consolidate its position in the maturing streaming infrastructure market. In December 2025, per CSI Magazine, Accedo and Magine Pro agreed to merge their respective SaaS businesses—Accedo One and Magine Pro—into a new, jointly owned specialized entity. This strategic move aims to combine Accedo’s user experience expertise with Magine Pro’s cloud-based live and VOD delivery technology to serve broadcasters and niche streamers looking for cost-efficient, scalable infrastructure.
The hospitality segment remains a high-growth priority for the integrated Hibox unit. In September 2025, according to Prowly, Hibox Systems launched 'Hibox xprs,' a preconfigured turnkey solution designed to modernize in-room guest experiences through an easy-to-install dongle. This product allows guests to cast content from smartphones to aging hotel displays, addressing a significant pain point for hospitality operators facing high hardware replacement costs. Per Bloomberg, the global hospitality TV market was valued at $3.84 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $6.5 billion by 2035.
Beyond product launches, Accedo has expanded its enterprise reach through strategic corporate alignments. In July 2025, per TV Technology, the company announced a collaboration with HP to deliver digital user experiences across Fortune 100 touchpoints. These developments highlight Accedo's evolution from a pure-play OTT developer into a diversified video experience group managing both global consumer platforms and specialized B2B hardware-software ecosystems.
