Softvelum provides efficient tools for streaming infrastructure, including Nimble Streamer, a software media streaming server with live streaming and video-on-demand capabilities, and Larix Broadcaster for mobile live streaming. The company also offers WMSPanel for control and reporting, and quality monitoring services. As a member of the SRT Alliance, Softvelum supports modern streaming protocols like SRT, WebRTC, RIST, and RTSP. Their products are designed to help build reliable and scalable streaming networks for both live and on-demand content.
Softvelum has updated its Nimble Streamer software to include native AJA SDI input and output support, allowing for integration between baseband SDI hardware and IP-based streaming pipelines. The update enables capture, transcoding, and delivery workflows for broadcast teams on Ubuntu 22.04 systems.
Softvelum has introduced DVB teletext forwarding in its Nimble Streamer Transcoder to allow for the preservation of metadata across MPEGTS-based protocols. The update enables engineers to pass teletext through transcoding workflows by configuring specific input and output parameters.
Nimble Streamer has updated its WebRTC capabilities to support HEVC/H.265 for both WHIP ingest and WHEP playback. This enhancement provides streaming teams with another practical codec option for low-latency contribution and delivery, particularly for bandwidth-efficient workflows using compatible browsers.
Softvelum has updated Nimble Streamer to support Opus audio ingest via Enhanced RTMP and RTSP, enabling zero-transcode WebRTC delivery. This feature eliminates the need for audio transcoding when streaming Opus audio to WebRTC WHEP playback endpoints, reducing latency and computational overhead. The update is aimed at simplifying live streaming pipelines for scenarios requiring low-latency delivery.
Softvelum's Nimble Streamer now supports an expanded set of audio and video codecs over Enhanced RTMP, including VP8, VP9, Opus, FLAC, AC3, and E-AC3. This update, based on the Veovera Enhanced RTMP specification, allows these codecs to be received, pulled, republished, and played back directly within Nimble Streamer's RTMP modes, reducing the need for transcoding in certain streaming workflows.
