Media CDN is Google Cloud's content delivery network optimized for streaming video and large file downloads, leveraging the same infrastructure that powers YouTube. It offers support for QUIC, TLS 1.3, and BBR to optimize last-mile delivery, reducing rebuffer times and improving throughput. The platform integrates with Google Cloud Armor for planet-scale DDoS protection and provides detailed metrics and playback tracing for performance diagnostics. Media CDN complements Cloud CDN by focusing on high-throughput media workloads, making it suitable for live and on-demand streaming.
Google Cloud has launched a new 6-cent/GB monthly Dynamic Tier for its Managed Lustre service, aimed at reducing storage costs for AI and HPC workloads. The service provides a unified namespace for both interactive development tasks and large-scale training data, promising sub-millisecond latency for hot data.
Google Cloud has announced the general availability of Memorystore for Valkey 9.1, which introduces a lock-free messaging architecture and cluster-wide scanning capabilities. The update aims to improve performance for high-throughput, low-latency workloads by delivering up to 3x the queries per second compared to previous versions.
Google Cloud has launched the Developer Device Platform (DDP) in public preview, providing on-demand access to physical devices and emulators for mobile application testing. The platform includes agentic AI capabilities for automated UI testing, debugging, and performance optimization across diverse hardware profiles.
Google Cloud has introduced history-based optimizations and advanced runtime features for its BigQuery platform to support high-concurrency agentic AI workloads. These updates aim to reduce query processing costs and improve latency through autonomous performance tuning, including support for native and open lakehouse formats like Apache Iceberg.
Google has moved AlphaEvolve, a Gemini-powered agentic coding tool for algorithm optimization, from early access to general availability on its Enterprise Agent Platform. The platform is designed to assist businesses in complex tasks like supply chain optimization and performance scaling for software and ML training pipelines.
Google Cloud announced the deprecation of Vertex AI Search and Conversation SKU groups, which include services like Media Search API and Dialogflow CX. These changes primarily impact how streaming platforms manage costs and reference contracts for AI-driven metadata indexing and request counts. The update affects various services related to AI search, conversation, and media intelligence.
Google Cloud has announced that users can now self-deploy proprietary AI models from partners such as Mistral AI and CAMB.AI within their own Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) on Vertex AI. This update allows streaming and tech enterprises to run closed-source models for various tasks, including multilingual text-to-speech, while maintaining data sovereignty and VPC security policies. The models are available through the Vertex AI Model Garden, offering a curated catalog for discovery, testing, and deployment.
Google Cloud has launched graph algorithms in preview for Spanner Graph, enabling users to perform real-time centrality, community detection, and similarity analysis using ISO GQL. This allows for deeper insights into connected data, with applications ranging from fraud detection to hyper-personalized recommendations without complex ETL pipelines. Streaming platforms like SoundCloud are leveraging these capabilities for music recommendations and identifying creator hubs.
Google Cloud discusses the concept of AI-native databases, which are designed to manage high-dimensional vectors and unstructured data such as video and audio. These databases facilitate streaming-related functions like semantic search for media platforms and rapid anomaly detection through vector embeddings. The article details how AI databases are evolving to better handle the unique demands of AI applications within the cloud.
Google Cloud has announced the general availability of its Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) and Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) models via the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. These generative AI models for image generation and editing now include a preview feature for Nano Banana 2 that supports video files as an input prompt to generate context-aware images, thumbnails, and infographics. Customers like Adobe, WPP, Shopify, and Magnopus are already integrating these models to enhance creative workflows and media production.
