VisualOn is previewing its AI-driven Optimizer suite and Open+ player suite ahead of IBC2026, highlighting bandwidth reduction capabilities for satellite and mezzanine workflows. The company also announced a joint demonstration with Intel and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to showcase streaming density improvements using Intel Xeon 6 processors.
The collaboration between VisualOn, Intel, and Oracle signals a shift toward hardware-accelerated AI optimization to manage the rising costs of high-resolution streaming. By integrating AI-driven CAE directly with Intel Xeon 6 processors on OCI, providers can scale stream density without the traditional trade-off in visual fidelity. This move addresses the urgent need for bandwidth efficiency in high-cost delivery environments like satellite and automotive telematics. As the industry moves toward more complex ad-insertion models, the inclusion of unified SSAI and SGAI tools within the playback stack simplifies the path to monetization. Watch for performance benchmarks from the IBC live sports panel to see how these efficiency gains translate to long-form asset management.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has been aggressively expanding its media and entertainment footprint in 2026, building the ecosystem that VisualOn's IBC demo plugs into. At NAB Show 2026, Encompass Digital Media announced an expanded partnership with OCI for cloud-native broadcast operations, combining its Altitude Cloud platform and Master Control in the Cloud SaaS offering with OCI infrastructure to support production, playout, and distribution workflows for broadcasters and streaming platforms. Globecast also integrated OCI into its Content Exchange platform at NAB 2026, moving its orchestration layer fully onto Oracle's cloud to unify satellite, fiber, IP, and cloud workflows, with Premier Padel becoming the first organization to run the platform in full production. These deployments signal that OCI is positioning itself as a serious alternative to AWS and Azure for media supply chain workloads, which gives VisualOn's joint demo a growing addressable market of OCI-native media operators.
The hardware side of the VisualOn and Intel collaboration aligns with Intel's broader push into cloud and edge compute for media workloads. At MWC Barcelona in early 2026, Intel showcased its Xeon 6+ processor codenamed Clearwater Forest, featuring 288 E-cores and targeting cloud providers running hundreds of virtual machines per processor. The chip supports 96 PCIe 5.0 lanes and DDR5-8000 memory, with a planned launch in the first half of 2026. Intel's positioning of Xeon 6+ for edge and RAN workloads alongside cloud density suggests the company is courting media encoding and streaming density use cases as part of a wider data center strategy, making the VisualOn partnership a natural extension into video-specific optimization.
On the competitive landscape, AWS is simultaneously pushing AI-driven encoding and inference tools for media organizations. At NAB Show 2026, AWS unveiled Elemental Inference, a fully managed service that applies AI in parallel with live video encoding to automate vertical video creation in 6 to 10 seconds. The service integrates with AWS Elemental MediaLive and MediaConvert, targeting mobile-first distribution for Gen-Z audiences who consume 88% of streaming content on smartphones. VisualOn's approach differs by focusing on bitrate reduction at the encoding layer rather than format adaptation, but both strategies reflect the industry's convergence on to control delivery costs at scale.
