Kiloview hybrid IP production strategy boosts studio utilization by 80 percent

This shift signals a move away from the 'all-or-nothing' transition to ST 2110, positioning hybrid architectures as a permanent solution rather than a temporary bridge. By treating SDI and NDI as interchangeable resources, broadcasters can avoid the high costs of non-blocking fabrics and specialized network teams while still achieving remote production fluidity. This approach challenges the industry to prioritize architectural utilization over protocol purity, allowing mid-sized players to scale without overbuilding. Watch for whether other hardware vendors adopt similar modular card-based systems to compete with Kiloview's density and power efficiency in the 2RU form factor.

Kiloview has positioned itself as a mid-tier challenger in the IP production hardware space, building its strategy around NDI as the connective protocol between SDI and IP workflows. At NAB Show 2026, Kiloview demonstrated end-to-end NDI production workflows using the RF02 chassis alongside CUBE X1 and CUBE R1 devices, showing how encoding, decoding, transcoding, and protocol conversion can be consolidated into a single 2U system with centralized management. The company's NDI CORE MAX technology underpins the RF02 and FXC-A8800 platforms, targeting broadcasters who want to run NDI workflows without replacing existing SDI infrastructure. At IBC 2025, Kiloview showcased its N50 and N60 converters as the first hardware devices powered by the NDI 6.3 protocol, supporting SDI, HDMI, and USB inputs alongside RTMP, SRT, and NDI HX for live streaming and production integration.

The NDI ecosystem itself has matured significantly, reinforcing the business case for hybrid architectures like Kiloview's. NDI 6.3, released in January 2026, introduced sender-level monitoring, real-time stream statistics, and HDCP-compatible encoding and decoding developed in collaboration with ProITAV, enabling protected content workflows that were previously unavailable in NDI environments. Miguel Coutinho, head of NDI, described the release as establishing the protocol for large video installations with monitoring and control of both senders and receivers regardless of network size. The update also added Agilex 7 FPGA chipset support, expanding hardware options for high-performance deployments. NDI 6, which preceded the 6.3 release, introduced native HDR support and embedded WAN connectivity through an NDI Bridge utility for hardware, with beta testing involving product developers including Kiloview, Panasonic, Matrox, Lumens, and Vizrt. That WAN Bridge capability allows NDI-enabled cameras to join remote networks without additional software, directly supporting the remote production fluidity that Kiloview's hybrid strategy promises.

On the competitive and technical front, the NDI ecosystem at ISE 2026 featured dedicated demo pods with Vizrt, Ross, Science Image, Everet, CDN Live, and TSL, while wall displays highlighted partners including Panasonic, BirdDog, Magewell, Bolin, and Yealink, . For Kiloview, this ecosystem density means its RF02 modular chassis competes not just on hardware specs but on how well it integrates with the broader NDI device landscape. The FXC-A8800's card-based architecture, which allows mixing SDI, NDI, and SRT inputs in a single frame, differentiates Kiloview from single-function PCIe capture cards offered by Magewell and others. Beijing Radio and Television's deployment, where studio utilization rose 80 percent and maintenance costs fell 50 percent, represents one of the larger public-sector references for this hybrid approach in China, where state broadcasters are modernizing production infrastructure for major events without the capital to pursue full ST 2110 migrations.
